This table shows which age division(s) may compete in which track-and-field events at both AAU- and USATF-sanctioned meets. Please note that hurdles of different heights and throwing implements of different weights are used according to gender and/or age division. For more information, check out the AAU Athletics Rulebook (PDF, 303 KB) and the USATF Competition Rules Book (PDF, 3.1 MB).

Notes: At AAU-sanctioned meets, Primary and Sub-Bantam runners may move up and compete on Bantam relay
teams, Sub-Midgets may move up to compete with Midget relay teams and Sub-Youths may move up to compete
with Youth relay teams. Certain USATF-sanctioned meets offer Sub-Bantam events; Sub-Bantam events are
competed up to but not beyond the Region 9 level.
