Jenks America Track Club: It's not just for Jenks...or Tulsa...or...
A common misconception about Jenks America is that it's a club for Jenks families and athletes. Nothing could be further from the truth. Jenks America is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization and it's not affiliated with any school. In fact, on our 2008 national cross-country championships team, 30 Oklahoma schools / cities (and 1 in Texas) were represented. So don't let the name fool you. We want you, no matter where you call home.  [8 Dec 2008]

Helpful hints for USATF age-group championships attendees
A few helpful hints regarding this Saturday's meet to be held at the Jenks HS track complex:
• The complex is located on N. 3rd St. just north and east of the Jenks school campus.
• Please park in the campus parking lot and not on the grass surrounding the track/baseball field.
• You may pick up your race number and tags at the registration area set up immediately as you enter the complex. Please notify a volunteer immediately if something is amiss with your registration materials.
• Athletes should pin the white number to the front of their uniforms. The colored tags should be provided to event officials following the completion of each event.
• The heating tent will be set up at the west end of the football field.
• Team tents should be set up under the bleachers or in the grassy areas north of the bleachers.
• Certain field event areas (javelin, discus, shot) are located north and east of the bleachers.
• The meet will be electronically and manually timed.
• Medals will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each age group/gender event.

Application for 2008 USATF Mark Springer Youth Travel Grant submitted
Jenks America's application for a 2008 Mark Springer Youth Travel Grant from USATF recently was submitted. JATC was one of 48 teams nationwide - and the only Oklahoma team - receiving a grant in 2007. The grants provide financial support in sending athletes to one or more of four USATF national meets throughout the year. You might also be interested in JATC's application last year for a grant from the Saucony Run for Good Foundation; unfortunately, we weren't selected as a grant recipient. Both applications offer interesting glimpses of JATC's goals, history, diversity and success.

22 June Update on USATF Junior Olympic meets, schedule changes
This year, there will be 2 USATF JO district meets - one in Ardmore (Ardmore H.S.) on June 2 and one in Tulsa (East Central H.S.) on June 16. Any Oklahoma athlete may participate in and qualify at either district meet for the state championships to be held June 22-23 in Tulsa (not Moore). Note that the new date for the Eastern district JO - June 16 - conflicts with both the Sooner State Games and the Hershey's state meet, so keep that in mind when planning which meet(s) to attend. Also note that in place of the originally scheduled Eastern district USATF JO meet, an AAU all-comers meet will be held on June 2 at East Central H.S. in Tulsa. Another change from last year: No Primary or Sub-Bantam age division events will be contested at USATF meets in 2007. Regarding AAU qualifying meets, all AAU meets will continue as originally scheduled. We received a comment about photos not being available of non-Jenks America athletes from the May 26 meet. Please note that nearly 2,500 photos of non-JATC athletes are available. Just click on the appropriate team linked below and you'll be taken directly to that team's gallery. Granted, one photographer couldn't capture everyone, but there are hundreds of different athletes throughout the 20+ galleries below. All these individual team links will be added to the 2007 page as well, since that's what may have caused the confusion. Thanks for looking!
